In a world changing faster than ever, intrapreneurship is certainly one of the key behavior companies need to foster in order to embrace new challenges in a timely manner. And there is certainly more opportunities to do so than one conventionally thinks despite what can be perceived as an unfavorable economic context.
It is always interesting to observe that many people can have a quite entrepreneurial attitude outside of work, but develop a "red tape" attitude at work. This is on this observation that the CEO of the Brazilian company "Semco" developed his concept of "managing without managers". Inspired by this successful initiative, and believing that true entrepreneurs do not exist in large corporations because they do not need and actually hate the level of "safety" provided by such an environment, I experienced in the division I am heading, and interesting shift of attitude when moving towards a competence based organization with strong values and norms. This approach helped build the "safety frame" many people do need in order to tap into their entrepreneurial spirit, a more "positive attitude". In parallel, people are encouraged via coaching from China to Mexico via Sweden and Korea.... to identify the sense they want to give to their life and see how can this be linked to their daily work, current or future in order to constantly re-energize themselves and deal with the stress of a fast changing environment.
